About Piseco Yacht Club
Piseco Yacht Club has been bringing sailors together on the waters of Piseco Lake in the Adirondacks since July 1, 1961. What started as a small gathering of neighbors with a shared love of sailing has grown into one of the most spirited little yacht clubs in upstate New York.
Our season runs all summer, with weekly races, special regattas, and plenty of dockside socializing. We race handicap-class sailboats, from Sunfish and Flying Scots to Thistles, MC Scows, RS Aeros, and Flying Dutchmans, which means all skill levels and boat types are genuinely welcome and competitive.
Racing at PYC
Our flagship weekly races are the VCRs (Variety Class Races), open to all boats with a recognized handicap rating. Throughout the season we also run named regattas including the Founders' Cup, the Sunfish Bowl, the Senior Regatta, and the Arietta Sesquicentennial. Season-long points are tallied for the Variety Class trophy, awarded at the end-of-season awards dinner.
Piseco Lake offers some of the most beautiful and challenging sailing in the Adirondacks. The mountains surrounding the lake create shifting, unpredictable winds, which keeps even our most experienced sailors on their toes.
